Waiting is Hard

Waiting is hard.
Those waiting to build a family through adoption
know just how hard waiting is.

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf said:
"..the work of patience boils down to this: keep the commandments; trust in God, our Heavenly Father; serve Him with meekness and Christlike love; exercise faith and hope in the Savior; and never give up."

During the April 2010 Priesthood Session President Uchtdorf
gave a wonderful talk on patience and waiting.

Have you ever been to a National FSA Conference?

Every July there is a National FSA Conference held in Layton, Utah.

This year it will be held on July 30-31,2010
at the Davis Conference Center.

I was able to attend last year and heard some of the speakers
and also a birth parent panel.

It was wonderful!

If you are waiting to adopt, have adopted, or thinking about adopting
then you will enjoy the many different informative classes and speakers on adoption.

If you have not been to one before,
you can now see some of the most popular and informative classes
that were recorded at past Conferences.

Go here to see how to watch the recorded sessions!

Enjoy!

April 10 Activity Summary

We had a GREAT meeting on April 10 at the Twin Falls LDS Family Services office. Thanks to everyone who attended, and we hope to see you all at our next meeting. Highlights of the meeting include an awesome presentation by a birthmother followed by a Q& A session, a family sharing their recent adoption story and a mini-class on "Adoption Options: Tips for Finding Your Baby Faster." If you'd like a copy of the handout, please email twinfallsfsa@yahoo.com and I'll send you one out.

We are still looking for volunteers to help run our local FSA chapter! If you are interested, please email twinfallsfsa@yahoo.com. The only qualification is a love of adoption!

National FSA Blog and Conference

Don't forget to check out the National Families Supporting Adoption Blog for great ideas and articles on adoption! Click here to go to the blog and remember to bookmark it and check back often for ideas throughout the adoption process.

Also, mark your calendars for the National FSA conference this summer in Layton, Utah(about 25 miles north of Salt Lake). It will be held July 30-31, 2010. The cost is usually very minimal and it provides for two days full of different adoption seminars, presentations, dinner and a WONDERFUL opportunity to meet other adoptive couples and families. There is a children's room available for a minimal cost and you can register for only Saturday if you are unable to go on Friday.

Last year I was able to attend for the first time, and I plan to attend every year. You can read about last year's conference by clicking here. It was so much fun to be around so many other people who love and support adoption. Families with adopted kids were the norm! Classes are for every stage of adoption: dealing with infertility, preparing to adopt, placement and birth parents, after adoption, raising adopted kids, and transracial adoption. Make plans to attend. Watch the National FSA blog for more info and I'll make sure to send it out by email as well.
